A Beautiful London Family Photoshoot | Dominika, Kurt & Addie

Capturing Family Moments in London

London offers the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and natural family photoshoot. With its mix of historic landmarks, scenic riverside views, and charming hidden corners, the city provides endless opportunities to capture timeless family memories.

For Dominika, Kurt, and little Addie, this session was extra special, as it took place just days before they left London for a new adventure in San Francisco. Together, we explored some of London’s most iconic locations, creating a collection of heartfelt and authentic family portraits.

Exploring London: From Westminster to Hampstead

We began our London family photoshoot at Westminster Pier, taking in the stunning views of the Thames River. From there, we strolled through the bustling crowds, crossing Westminster Bridge and making our way along the Southbank, where the city’s vibrant energy added a lively touch to our session.

One of the highlights was stopping for some playful moments in the fountains at Royal Festival Hall—a perfect way to capture fun, candid memories.

Next, we crossed the Millennium Bridge, with the majestic St Paul’s Cathedral as our backdrop. The golden light at sunset created the perfect atmosphere for some truly special shots. As the day wound down, we hopped in a cab and headed to Hampstead, returning to some of the family's favorite spots for the final moments of their session.

Each location offered a unique and dynamic backdrop, making this family photoshoot a perfect blend of London’s historic charm and modern vibrance.

Natural & Candid Family Photography

My approach to family photography is all about storytelling—capturing real, unposed interactions that highlight the love, laughter, and connections within a family.

With Addie’s playful energy and her parents’ warm smiles, this session was full of genuine, heartfelt moments. I loved watching Addie hold her Mum, Dad, and Nanny Domi (who also joined us), touching their faces and pressing their noses together. She was absolutely hilarious, even giving “time-outs” to everyone—including her Moose teddy bear—on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral!

Despite covering quite a bit of ground, Addie’s boundless energy kept us all going, making for a truly memorable session filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

My Journey as a London Family Photographer

My journey as a London family photographer started over five years ago in an unexpected way. While working part-time in a London pub, I met a wonderful family from Texas. They knew I had a passion for photography (not just for pouring pints!) and asked me to capture some special memories before they returned home.

Having worked in family portrait studios in Bristol and during my travels in New Zealand, I was no stranger to photographing babies, children, and families. I loved it—but I often felt restricted by the studio walls.

Breaking Free from the Studio

One autumn, I brought some fallen leaves into the studio for children to play with, hoping to create a more natural and playful setting. Unfortunately, that didn’t go down too well with the studio! But it was a defining moment—I realised that I wasn’t meant to be a studio photographer.

I wanted my images to feel real, fresh, and full of life, capturing families as they truly are—playing, laughing, and sharing genuine moments together in beautiful outdoor locations.

From Word of Mouth to a Thriving Photography Business

That first London family photoshoot led to many more through word of mouth. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing families everywhere—from open countryside fields to the bustling city streets of London. I’ve visited families in their homes for intimate, relaxed sessions and explored London’s most iconic locations to create meaningful portraits.

Although I’m now based in Bristol, I know London pretty well after living there for years. This deep connection with the city allows me to guide families to the best locations—whether they’re looking for classic London landmarks, charming hidden corners, or peaceful green spaces for their photoshoot.

Every session is a new adventure, a chance to discover beautiful locations, and, most importantly, to meet and connect with amazing families.
